To be honest, although it is Great in the mud for keeping the hook high ans easily accessable. It is more important for a Himount running 24v as the winch run-on is significant ans for safety's sake you can hook the hook on and spool in and it provides some resistance to help slow things down without your hands in the way.

Yes it was a piss take, right onto it. They are a handy part of the 'system'. No, I dont want or need one either as my hydraulic winch is not a sprinter like your High Mounts.
