I'll be honest I don't recall having much issue with that.

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.

I recently had this exact same problem!!! Turned out nine was from a slit in one of heater hoses, wasn’t easy to spot straight away and a PITA to replace lol

Check your overflow bottle assy. I had a small leak and it took me a couple of years to find it - bottle had a tiny split on the back side on a seam.

Yeah, I was surprised to see that as well, odd I reckon.
I've just replaced my rear coils with lighter ones as I don't carry much stuff in the rear 90% of the time and was concerned that stiff coils wouldn't compress enough and put too much stress on those mounts.
Hope it all goes back together easily for you mate.

When did you last replace your chassis coolant? May be overdue?

That is the reason I made sure my model Patrol was the air-cooled chassis variant, hate getting a coolant leak in the chassis.

Hey mate is yours a 3L CRD? They have a common front timing cover coolant leak. Mine had it. And it was a bitch to diagnose !
I don't think this is your issue.... BUT ....
When you said, that today it all dried up, I brought back memories for me. lol
Basically, when motor is running / hot, no leak.... If i sat the car untouched for a day or so, leak appeared. Basic theory, when motor heats up, metal expands, sandwiching the timing cover. Motor cools down for a lengthy period, metal shrinks, small leak occurs.
Mine mostly accumulated at the bottom near the A/C. But sometimes I found it sitting under the passenger front chassis. Later on I realized it was making its way along one of the hoses and down onto the chassis.
Here is more threads on it...

Mines a DI and 99% it's not coming from the motor. Just went and out to visit my mate Dan... Dan Murphy and I was greeted by it leaking again ffs.. header tank seems to have lost a little bit of fluid... So going with that. Will look into it more tomorrow once it cools down, and I have Turkey's to drink now 👌
