    GU series 2 gear shift

    Hi all my gearshift is loose I think !
    I think I think , so what's in the shift ? I am not sure if its a feature .
    its just as not as positive as I think it could be . maybe . not sure what to expect .

    pretty much theres a ball section on the gear stick which sits in a nylon bush. Then in the top of the box the the gearstick sits in the selector. There is also a nylon bush in there. Easier to replace, a bit time consuming though as the centre console needs to come out. Then you remove the circlip holding in the gearstick and the whole lot simply pulls out.
    These two bushes are the only thing that wear out. There is a spring in there that keeps the tension on the stick into the box, this can break, but very rare...

    if I change gears a bit quick it gets in knots ! I will take it to bits and have a look thanks

    Not really sure what you mean by that but if I change from 3rd to 4th a little quick in mine whilst accelerating a bit harder than usual I get a grinding like feel through the stick. Which would mean the synchro's are at their end of life.

    my shift is just a bit vague . the truck only has 140.000 km . I will pull the top off it and have a look . I will keep an eye out for another Nissan Patrol and have a feel ! ... Wont that go down well !! Hi can I have A feel of your gear stick !!! wish me luck

    well I have had A feel of another nissans gear shift !!
    Mine does not centralise a bit like there is a spring broken or something . Any ideas ?
    I did the download the manual thing and cannot get it to work .... anyone go a picture of the gearshift assembly . thanks to all

    Circled in red are the two bushes you get in the kit and the spring which is sold separately, this rarely breaks or loses tension, but it can. Theres nothing to it really. Even the circlip that holds the lot in could have snapped maybe
