I just use ratchet straps to the roof of my shed for the rack which is pretty fiddly to get it on the car but easy to take off.
I don't use it much anyway but the system could definitely be a lot better.

Nic, I used to use a simple rathet hand winch that you find on small boat trailer, rated at 500kg, then made a clamp on lifting frame with a single lift point. I stuffed around with the centre of gravity to get the roofrack lifting off nice and flat, marked it and then simply clamped the frame there and bingo, all good each time, never scratched the car once. You need a sound mount point off the side of the shed though to anchor the winch, then a sound mount pount above the lifting eye over the roofrack. I lifted mine using 'Telstra' rope without an issue. Still have the frame and the winch I think if you want it - will take a bit to find but sure its here.

    It looks good mate.
My sister and her husband use one for the two of them and their 3 kids. The 2 boys sleep in the annex underneath and the baby sleeps upstairs with them.

Looks great mate. The guys at muddy4x4accessories have this cool stand to make the tent freestanding when you’re at camp. Looks pretty neat

Some expensive pre-emptive maintenance, prefer to have these in place before I need them. Looked at my mounts yesterday and they look mint, so a good time to put some in I reckon.

Good idea mate. I checked my mounts and they looked OK, so bit of pro-activity for them to stay that way. Boss braces got bolted on!

I'm thinking of fitting long range tanks, so I thought I'd better toughen up the rear mounts, they look like a well designed & thought out product I reckon.

And much cheaper considering the cost of chassis fix, if the factory seats did crack...
