Ideas or contact needed for Geelong - Cairns delivery

    Hi guys,

Just putting a feeler out there to see if anybody knows of an economical way to send an antique dressing table from Geelong to Cairns. Was my grandmothers and trying to get it up to Cairns economically. My uncle up there has received quotes from $1400 to $2300 but this is just too much.

It could be crated and would be approx 1200mm x 600mm x 1500 high and would weigh approx 40-50kg.

    Any ideas please?

Pack and send maybe, I had a meat safe sent over from SA only cost me $50 from memory
    that was through TNT.
As long as you have it on a pallet it might be cheaper or get onto someone doing a back load
04 ST 3lt auto, not enough Mods to keep me happy, but getting there

There's a site you can go to and put up the dimensions, pick up, drop off locations and freighters bid on it and you choose the carrier.

You can get some crazy deals there from dead loads or spare space on the smaller guys trucks.

We send pallets of batteries weighing a ton to Cairns for $225.00 plus gst plus 9.98%fuel surcharge.
If you could find a way to get it to Brisbane we could organize to send it up for you. Keep in mind this is general freight

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.

    That took 20 seconds. lol

    https://www.truckit.net/backloads

Join that site and post an Ad. The more flexible you are for times and dates the better. I have used it a couple of times from Geelong to Cairnes and back again and got a great price. I for the expected $1200 quote and I basically said for that price I will dump it! I think I paid like $250 or something each way.

Hold out and be prepared to haggle and it should work well.

Yeah i tried truckit for some tanks @ work wasn't bad. Ended up using one of our suppliers freight accounts. . . The difference between joe bloe using a freight company versus a company that freights regularly with an account is rediculous. Think i was quoted over 2 G verses about 600 bucks from memory. Truckit wad definatly better than going with the big guys that's for sure.
