td42t intercooler kit for factory non intercooled
I've seen some kits around but they're pretty pricey at $1500+ does anyone know of any other kits that are cheaper?

Are you going front mount or top mount?
Can get away with running a front mount pretty cheap using ebay and working out the piping yourself.

Top mount, do you know if someones put a write up on the forums for it? There's a hardline that goes to the intake tube right on top of the engine that I have no idea what it's for, little stuff like that I'm not quite sure of would be great to know. I noticed that the mounting section ontop of the inlet manifold where the 90 degree bend is on factory non intercooled is just 4 bolts and nothing else, where as the 03+ factory intercooled ones have 3 holes that I assume are for some kind of vacuum lines.

Not sure what you're talking about? Pictures would help. I think you're talking about the vacuum lines that control everything for the egr system. You don't *need* any of that and the engine will be better off without it. If yours doesn't have it as standard, no issues.
You don't need anything special when fitting an intercooler. You just need to decide if you want top mount/front mount/water to air... if you want an easy to fit kit or buy the bits and do it all yourself.

That Line will probably go down to the injector pump. its for boost compensator, I think. when you run a boost controller this line Tee's intot he controller. As for the other pic, those would be mounting points for vac lines for an EGR system, which you dont have.
