    Under Body Plates

Things look a bit vulnerable under the Patrol , especially the sump
I have seen the Alloy Drive Tech Plates , they look ok but being very thick they might not be any lighter than steel ,
Just wondering what some of you blokes might have and what you think , any preference.

Vulnerable maybe a little but nothing I would be concerned about really.

Ned Cakovan on the y62 facebook pages makes and sells bash plates for the patrol, from memory about $220 a set plus postage. Think there are 2 or more plates in the kit.

I guess it depends where you drive , that sump looks to be just waiting for a big rock to smash it , especially one underwater in a river crossing.

Thanks vern I will check those plates out .

I am trying to decide between Neds N7 stainless steel 3mm plates that he sells that only cover the front parts of the car, VS the Drivetech 6mm aluminium plates that cover the whole drive train.

Aluminium is 1.4 lighter then Steel, so the Aluminium ones will be heavier, plus there is more of them, but they offer more protection.

I would love to know peoples experiences with them either of them.

I think I'm going to get that second one from Ned that covers the sump. The rest I'll probably give a miss. I don't know of anyone who's had issues from the sump back with most 4WDs - but there will always be one or two out there I am sure. The first/ OEM bash plate is actually pretty good IMHO and it's pretty light. Easy to take off with four simple bolts if you wanted to have a look at it. I wouldn't bother spending the money replacing it.
