Td42Ti light puff of black smoke accelerating
Doesnt happen all the time. Just light puff randomly on light acceleration sometimes be it rolling or standing start .
I look through the passenger side mirror.
Tuner said totally normal on old school diesel especially before boost comes on to even out the AFR.
He said pump and injectors in excellent condition
Just would like other peoples opinions.
Yes smoke is black.
Night time through cars heads lights behind you. You can see more but I think the headlights exaggerate it abit.

Legendary
It is definitely the old school engine ..... when I had mine, i could leave those behind me shrouded/I never knew there was a tunnel on this road/call the police were lost ... in the magical black soot if i put my boot into it.
Even the newer generation diesels will give a puff or two at times

Every youtube video/real life pre 2007 Turbo Diesel 4wd I see have smoke on:
Gear changes
up hills
Hard acceleration
But when you google it and in forums when someone asks the question.
with the exception of you guys.
everyone says theres a problem. lol

The guys on here are correct... that's 'cause, when it comes to Patrols or indeed most things in life 99% of the members on here totally know their shit.
(we keep the other 1% around for general amusement)
Dolphins are so smart that within a few weeks of captivity, they can train people to stand on the very edge of the pool and throw them fish.

lol I love this forum more than the others that's for sure.
Sorry for always asking a gazillion newbie questions as this is my first Turbo Diesel and old school style.
I see even a puff of light black smoke when I go up a hill I panick.
Its your information that reassures me.
Thanks Evil Twin.

The thread above "why diesels smoke" explains it all.
At the end of the day, all you have is yourself and all you need is your friends (and in our case our Patrol)

It does. very informative but it indicates everything is a problem lol. And its probably the way I read it. Not that excellent thread and the effort went into it.
Im sure a lot of smokes here and there its by design of old school diesels and while boost gets a chance to build up to even out AFR.
which is my case
Thankyou for pointing the thread though
