Bush replacement - front leading and rear trailing arm

    Gday,

Anyone have any recommended strategies or shops for budget front leading and rear trailing arm bushings replacement? I’m in Brisbane.

Patrols running great as always but ive been hearing a few new “creeks” and “boongs” lately which I’d like to sort ASAP but am on a budget.

Have seen bushing kits on eBay which I’d say are cheap enough but don’t have a press...

I always try and fit the original style black rubber bushes. I have been told that they wear out quicker than polyurathane, but they still have a few advantages.

Have a read and then decide for yourself.

Make sure the noise isn't caused by worn body mounts.

I suggest to buy yourself a cheap press. Those cheap units on eBay with a 12T bottle jack work really well for doing suspension bushes. The money you spend now on a press will outweigh getting someone else to do it.
The only thing you need to get or fab up is tool that fits exactly over the bushes to be removed. I used a modified old bush where the OD of the bush was slightly smaller so pressing out old bushes wasn’t an issue.
Once that is sorted. Only uses genuine bushes. The rubber quality is far superior.

I had a local fitter/engineer turn a piece of bright steel into a drift that made it easier to use my 10 ton Supercheap press to fit the bushes. Only for $10-15 but I provided the steel.
