Recommendations for new purchase 2012 ST

    Hey all,

Will hopefully pick up my new second hand GU in a couple of weeks. Have had Patrols in the past, but a long time has passed since the last. What recommendations would you make in terms of not just servicing but additions such as replacing any standard air filters with the foam ones for example. I believe it's been well looked after, and I just want to continue that trend. Are there any recommendations on a specific engine oil for example, or after market oil filter?

    Cheers,
    Paul

I use a K&n reusable air filter, once you service it with clean oil leave it to breathe for a while
before replacing it. Not sure on oil but I use a 40/5 Penrite oil, with no problems

OK cheers, I'll start looking into it and see what falls out. I'd prefer to go through all the fluids and filters whenever getting a new / used vehicle. Make me feel a little more comfortable.

    Cheers,
    Paul

    What TD said...
    K&N Air Filter
Replace Oil and Fuel Filters and Oil with your choice
and buy a Scanguage II or equivalent - best thing money can buy for a CRD engine of any make
Dolphins are so smart that within a few weeks of captivity, they can train people to stand on the very edge of the pool and throw them fish.

Good idea replacing all fluids as it gives you a starting point for future services.
Expect to get about 13-15 ltrs per 100ks, depending on tyre size and driving style
A pic would be great we love pics

Was hoping to get a touch better consumption rate but then again I know how I drive. I’ll post some pics when I get it but it’s pretty boring standard.

On another note I’m looking around at options for replacing the dual din stereo with a multi function nav, cd, camera, etc. have looked at a few. Any suggestions based on experience?

Hah, the woodgrain finish. I remember when I bought my 200 patrol, the sales guy rang me in a panic and told me they had accidentally factory installed the woodgrain and he was really sorry. Gave me an additional $1200 off the new price and I kinda preferred it. Are kits available for the 2012 models I wonder, will investigate.

I'll need to go through all the important stuff first, filters, fluids, etc. That'll set me back a bit and I'll check with my financial controller after that and see if I can get a new head unit. On that note, I've been asking the guys at DigOptions a number of questions about their units and I'm not getting much in the way of acceptable responses. How good are these guys, I haven't seen too much feedback on them.

    Cheers,
    Paul
