I forgot to add. If this happens on school holidays I might be able to make it happen. Watching closely…

    hi guys.

very very interested in this trip. however if it is on the road all day every day then unfortunately with the younguns its just not for us. whats the run down like for this trip> is it just driving everyday covering kms? or is there spots where we stay and enjoy for a while? tegans just validly pointed out that the kids wont fare well in the car all day
I got red dust in my veins.

We could possibly leave earlier and meet at Coober Pedy say Friday 5th and leave on Sunday 7th July that way the victorians can take their time coming over as they start school holidays on the 1st ? And kallen and Nissa can leave on the Friday or Saturday and be there for departure on the Sunday. That also gives most people the opportunity to have a day to look around, or even happy to meet on say the Tuesday 2nd, leave Coober Pedy on Thursday 4th. From there to Oodnadatta and Dalhousie, definitely a day or 2 at Dalhousie during which time you would need to go to mount dare to top up fuel, that will also give us time to miss the big red bash by a couple of days and hopefully the track is not too chopped up. From there four days to cross so that should give us ample time as last time we took 3 days and the second day was a big one so I think 4 days should be early stops for the day, stay 2 days. From Birdsville it’s up to everyone what they want to do go directly down Birdsville track or I’m going to haddons corner camp there, I think last time we left Birdsville around 10am, then to Innamincka via the dig tree, stay there then onto Cameron corner 2 easy days and again spent a last night together at the pub but camping at the corner, then the wa contingent and I guess kallen and Nissa will head directly to the strezleki track then down through Quorn, the Victorians can head with us or go directly through broken hill.

@mudrunner let me know what you think please mate!

When the first meet up in the middle was being planned I was interested, but lacked confidence, thinking there would be a good chance I'd hold everyone up.
I recall a great time was had by all.

This time I find myself still putting it (a Simpson crossing) off, not lack of confidence any more, but because I want to do it in comfort & take my time. 3 weeks Birdsville to Mt Dare sounds about right to me. I feel similarly about the Canning Stock Route too. I have resolved that although towing the Tvan is feasible I don't want to do it. It will have to wait until we have a suitable truck based camper. I'm well past sleeping on the ground.

I didn't regret not going last time, & I don't think I will this time, but I did enjoy hearing all about the last forum adventure & will look forward to this one.

Who knows, if we find the right truck we might even bump into you all mid Simmo! So I'll keep an eye on what you are all up to.

This was always going to be difficult, so many needs to try and cover.
Stropp ill have a better look at that time line in front of a computer and note pad. But the concept sounds good.

Unfortunately this is a driving trip. Though we will be having some nice breaks along the way.
Being a Simmo crossing with a group we do need to be flexible with the time line as it can change is a second.

We are also looking to do a but of schooling on the road, pulling up a bit earlier and giving the kids a designated learning time.
We're a long way off but with we do go mid year be sure to start talking to your teachers about getting some work packs to take with us..

Would it be best to put a cap on the the number of cars traveling, last thing you guys want is a big fleet..

As for me, I know I keep saying maybe, but I have been keeping an eye on this..

    I’m 100% gents but I have a question.

The folks who are coming, is your partner coming?

Kids are 1000% coming by the way.

Just checking how many girls if any are doing this trip?

Once in the life time trip though peeps, memories for ever this trip!!!
