The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.

The plastic is cheap and the end fittings are just some steal tube and bar. A unit could be made for $50-$100.

Yeah wow. The material used is polyurethane, same as what some bushes are made of. I thought it was pretty expensive stuff.

Yeah it is not just a plastic and a straight PU. It has a flexibility cross between a rubber and a plastic. I asked the guy i got the DazWing Perspex from, he sold a PU rod the right size but was very rigid. No good. There is a market for the right kit for sure. Mine is 65 or 70mm, the one listed above is 50mm.

It will be a pu with some type of silica content similar to that used in the adult industry. I will do some research and see if I can find a material. It may even have some kind of vinyl in it. PU is pretty flexible though on its own. A lot of can bend around onto itself. Like all things rubber and plastic there are many grades and shore ratings.

Pretty sure we’ve bought the exact PU blend for a spring replacement on some indoor playground products before. It was horribly expensive stuff and IIRC something like $100plm for only 25mm diameter rod.
https://www.profileplastics.com.au/
I’ll ask our designer today which PU blend was sourced as it was critical for us also to have instant memory return and zero splitting where the fixing bolts are drilled through.
I just purchased the 4WD Shed 50mm one complete for the 12v Iskra/Mahle High Mount upgrade but will be upgrading it to the next diameter larger size if I ever copy Darren and run 24v through it faster. A wee bit too flexible as it is on the faster 12v winch but would be fine on a low mount winch as only one last winch click currently folds it to half way too easily

Yeah crazy expensive. I have looked into it when I was buying. I scored mine 2nd hand from a bloke in Yarraglen for $150. AB went and grabbed it for me. I jumped on it when I saw it for sale on Facebook... way back before it was Trendy
