    HELP I'm buying GU IV 04 3L auto ST-L

    Hi all
    I'm new here,
I'm looking to buy a 2004+ Patrol, 3L Auto really like ST-L model
What are the things to look out for?
I've found one thats a bit rough body wise but i can live with that. 200,000km seem a honest has eng oil stain on intercooler and A/C compressor clutch is not working. Is there a common easy fix fault with A/C?
The air flow meter assembley seem to have been replace in last 6 month it is the only clean part under the bonnet.

Hi Mate, It would be nice if you went to the introductions thread and told us a bit about yourself, that way you may get more replies to your Query.
But as I'm here I may as well let you know that a ZD30 DI with 200 thousand ks would just about be ready to go BANG, if it hasn't had a re build.
Oily intercooler could mean a split.
Could be a fuse on the air con if you can't hear a click.
Before you buy it, do some research on the longevity of the nissan ZD 30 DI motor. (good tip)
    Cheers, the ferret.

Don't muck around looking for a good ZD30 DI, 80.000 k's and they are rewted, spend your time looking for something with a 4.2TD, good for half a million k's.
    Cheers, the ferret.

From what I have had to do with Nissans over the past 30 odd years, they only ever made two diesel engines that were any good, one is the SD 33T, and the other is the 4.2.
The ZD30 DI is just a total disaster and the 3.0L CRD is not much better. (My opinion)
It's all about good looking crap, just like Fords, LOL
Just getting my flamesuit from the wardrobe now, but I don't anticipate much flack!!!
    Cheers, the ferret.

Are there many reported problems with the CRD to date? From what I've heard they've been great.

I'm also hoping your prediction of an '04 3.0L with 200k being about to go bang is wrong as this is my exact situation... uh oh....

    Cheers,

    Rusty

Put t this way mate, if You buy a nissan with a ZD 30 DI and wanted to take it for a run over the Simpson with more than 80 thousand, yer look'n fer trouble.(14 grand)
The CRD is only a modified ZD and unless you do the mods, you would be in the same boat, so to speak.(14 grand)
If you are looking for a reliable 4x4, look for a 4.2, or just go a petrol, they are ok too.

Jees, I hate being the one to tell the truth, but that's the way it is, sorry.
    Cheers, the ferret
