2004 gu 4.2
hi everyone I have a 2004 gu with the 4.2 motor an a 5 speed gearbox now between motor an the gearbox there is this black rubber thing on the underside dose it need to be there and how would you get it out its full of oil from rear filter when being changed thank for any help.

Are you talking about the little plastic in the middle? Almost looks like a drain plug?

no under the motor an between the gear box and back of motor black rubber thing

There is foam between the sump and gear box. It is held in place by the support brackets that bolt to the engine block and bell housing. If you remove the support brackets this foam/rubber can removed easily.

Yes. Nissannewby is right again.
I just had another quick look and remembered a while ago it was a bit soaked with oil, courtesy of oil filter change . And I assumed it was my rear main seal. Bit it was just the spongy material which absorbed a bit of that oil.
