Extending Ring Time on Mobile Phone

Are you constantly trying to find your phone because you know after that 15 seconds it
will divert to MessageBank and you'll miss the call?
It's even more annoying if it's a call from a blocked number
In the depths of Telstra's website there is a guide explaining how to extend that
ring to a maximum of 30 seconds but of course no-one casually stumbles across it.

Call **61*101**seconds# to extend or shorten it.

So if you wanted to extend it to its maximum (30 seconds) you would dial
    **61*101**30# and then hit send

Other possible timings are 15, 20 or 25 seconds.

Bob, I have found its best to contact the supplier such as Telstra and they will walk you thru the specifics or go to a telstra shop or whoever you bought the phone from. I have also tried to do what you have done off the generic instruction and they ddn't work either, so I just let it go to messagebank.

Thanks for that however the above worked for both of our phones.
Not sure if it works for all suppliers or all phones

Thanks for announcing this @Bob. A lot of people do not know that settings like these are possible on the network side. Most just look for it on their phone. Which won't be found.
A little while ago I wanted to do exactly what you've done. Extend the ring time to 30 seconds. It proved impossible. No code entered worked.
After a ridiculously high number of calls & chats with the Hellstra's so called support people, they were adamant that it should work.
Yet it didn't. It was always stuck on 10 seconds. I've tried different SIMs, different phones, various settings on the phone/sim/network end... None worked.
To cut the very long story short. There was a setting on their side, which deemed my Voice mail , a mandatory attachment to my plan. Because of this, the ring time settings were rendered moot/by-passed. This was only uncovered after eventually speaking to "local" personnel that understood English.

Thanks Bob, worked on mine (Telstra), but on on the wife’s (Aldi). Not sure if it’s the phone or the carrier.

    @jack

    Following taken from Aldi Site

How can I change/extend the ring time before diverting to voicemail?
If you would like to extend the ring time before your call is diverted to voicemail, enter:
**61*+61141**XX# Then press the call/send button.
(You may need to hold down the 0 button on your phone to add a + sign to the number you need to dial).
Note: XX represents the number of seconds you wish to wait before diverting to voicemail,
for example, if you want your phone to ring for 30 seconds before diverting, enter:
    **61*+61141**30# then press call/send
There are 4 ring times and they must be in five second increments: 15(default), 20, 25 and 30 seconds.

One of the reasons it works for some and not others is each provider has a different access #.
61 is Aust and 101 is Telstra (whoever Aldi is using looks like it might be 141)
If you aren't a Telstra subscriber then "101" almost def won't work for you

Another issue is the Voicemail settings for the account like Hodge mentioned.
The voicemail and indeed many other settings, company accounts etc that can lock out the ability to change things via the ** menus

There are only 3 networks in Oz but a heap of providers so even tho Aldi use the Telstra Network their menu access numbers are different
Dolphins are so smart that within a few weeks of captivity, they can train people to stand on the very edge of the pool and throw them fish.
