The orange 38” Beast from iceland

So about 2 years ago I decided to finally get a GQ patrol. I had wanted one since driving one in 2009.

The original plan was to just learn how to fix it up and have an offroad toy. Nothing extreeme right? Oh how litle did i know how badly the bug would bite me.

This is the first pic i took of it after i got it.

Some things needed to be fixed and google and forum post helped me allot.

Standard stuff like glowplug change made me feel as manly as chuck norris...

Soon i realised i could not stop until i had changed this poor old gq into the car i felt it should be.. the bug had got me.

First it was redoing all lights with leds
    Easy enough right?

Then i decided the color should be more “me”
So a full professional respray was next

After the paint all the interrior was sound insulated and recarpeted with a customized interrior

And the engine bay got a new intercooler, rockercover, catchcan and a bullydog propane injection

    So specs are:

1997 GR Patrol (GR is the LHD version of the GQ)
Rd28t engine with 306.000 kms on it
Boost running about 18psi, stock turbo
    Frozenboost intercooler w2a (600hp rated)
    Bullydog propane injection
    Carter 4600hp liftpump
    Led bar 52”
    9” led spots
    6” 18w worklights
    Yellow strobe lights
    Reverse cam
    Rock cam
    2000w stereo with 4 6” speakers
    5” lift ome springs
    38” superswamper tires
    Subaru impresa front seats

Custom front bumper being built, w2a radiator goes in the center with fans behind it) and foglights. (Bullbar will be lower than in the pic)

    Next up
    Fox shocks, 2.0 performance
    Gt2860-7 garret turbo
    11mm fuel pump

The when it all goes to hell i will put in a LS4...

that is an awesome rig mate! do you need special certificated to modify to the extent you have? it would be a nightmare trying to get something like that passed in australia.

The regulations here are not as nazi like as in austrailia. When the tire size is increased yes it has to be inspected but there is no need for a engineering certificate or blue slips etc.

I could put an lq9 with 2 turbos with a 5 inch exhaust and 54” tires if i wanted with out any trouble from the authorities or the cops
