    Our ISP has accidentally ported our internet service... So until it's rectified I'm without home wifi. Very annoying.

    wireless? as in from my mobile phone? i can, but i pay for a standard adsl service as reception is crap out here. so essentiall they sold my service to someone else... pretty shit

    That's very bloody ordinary mate.

    Bloody ISPs. Whenever there's an NBN maintance outage our ISP still bills us. We had an outage planned for a week. I argue that they're not offering what they advertise and that's access to the Internet and we shouldn't have to pay during an outage. I may as well face into the oncoming wind and urinate.

    Ported means, in this environment, transferred. It can be from ISP to ISP, client to client, provider to provider. The term is most commonly used when you move from your current ISP to a new ISP, they port/transfer your connection from one to another.

    Think @PeeBee got a little confused with your original post @rusty_nail, you said you can't get WiFi, he mistook it for wireless.

    I'm assuming because of the port you have no internet service at all until it is fixed, that's pretty shit Nic, so I'm not the only one on standard ADSL still, are you on ADSL1 or 2?

    I was till around 3 months ago. Good old Canberra NBN infrastructure
