Intercooler gunk build up and hoses

Ive got a 2003 gu that ive only had for about a month so learning stuff along the way.
I noticed some gunk build up in the corner of the intercooler so i removed the engine cover to have a look and a slight clean.
Upon removing the cover i could see the intercooler hoses and there was a few hose clamps what seems to be an extra bit of hose in a few places(i may be wrong) could anyone shed some light on wether this is normal and what could be the reason for the gunk build up. Please see pictures.

I also have a kinda tapping slightly high pitched noise at idle. Please see video.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Cheers in advance!

To me chances are your intercooler is leaking, it will need replacing with a fully tigged one from say Diesel Smart.
Being a 3ltr dont go the big IC not worth it on such a small motor, read up on NADS and have a talk to @mudski
about setting up some gauges boost, egt. and a Dawes and needle valve. You need all this to "see whats going on under the Bonnet"
You could even fit a larger bonnet scoop to allow a bit more air in, You could be losing boost egts getting high ETC. You need to thow
some dollars at it to set it up correctely
04 ST 3lt auto, not enough Mods to keep me happy, but getting there

Get some pics up mate. Will help us a lot. If you can see oil on the intercooler itself. Its leaking. Bin it and get a tigged one. One way to stop/ slow the oil is to instal an oil catch can on the pipe running from the rocker cover to the intake pipe, pre turbo. The Catch can is pretty much an inline filter which filters the oily crank case vapours.
