    Blacking out windows

    Hey Guys,

I'm thinking about blacking out rear side windows of my GQ.
I had all the windows tinted few years ago, but for some reason they have faded over the years and now
    it's easy to see through.
I can have the front side windows tinted again, but can't go through the trouble of dong it for the back and side windows again.
Is it ok to black out the windows with some time of screen material without upsetting cops?!
I guess since there are plenty of panel vans, delivery vans with no visual of the back, I shouldnt
    have any problems?
I won't be blocking the barn door windows though.(It's good to be able to see through it when backing up the vehicle or /and a trailer).
What is the cheapest and quickest way of doing this(by cheap, I didn't mean using newspapers with sticky tape )

Thanx in advance for any suggestions, advice.

I would just put some more tint on. Here is a link to the stuff I used for the back, then also bought a roll of the 35% for the front. For the price you can afford a couple of stuff ups.

I went to supercreap, and brought 2 of those sun screens for the windscreen ($2.50 each)

cut them 10mm larger than the windows, and put them under the rubber strip

a bit of fluffing around, but worked great

Thanx mate. I still have enough of left over 35%. I think these ebay films are not good. I bought them off ebay few years back and did a good job with all the windows, myself. It took ages, 'cos I was doing it slow to make sure it comes out good, and it did.
The tint didn't last that long. 1% tint link above is a better idea obviously 'cos it would take bit longer for that to fade away the tint, assuming it does that.
The real bummer is that it's more work now, 'cos I have to remove the old tint film and do a super clean job to be able to apply tint film again. That's just bit too much work for me.
I'll pull the faded tint out first and take from there.

Thanx. I think that's the way to go for the time being. I already have brand new unpacked two sunscreens somewhere in the garage,
which have been like that for nearly ten years, without any use.
    Cheers

There recently was another thread on this subject.
One idea was to get the "One Way" perforated sign decal stuff applied to the outside of the windows, probably not a cheap option but you could get it customised with some graphics for a but of wackiness (spell checker changed the n into a c).

Yeah, I like the idea. Your spellchecker is thinking too much.

Come to think of it, I can hand paint some patterns or some wacky writing on creamy white paper and stick it from inside with stick tape.

I used black coruboard i think its called.
I removed the window trims, cut it to the shape of the window then put the trims back on which holds this board in place.
    Bloody cheap to buy too.

Thanx for all the replies guys.

I'm thinking none of you blokes brought up anything about possible issues with the law.
So, I'm guessing, it's perfectly legal anywhere in Australia to cover up the windows,
as long as its not the front ones?

I'm now considering blocking the barn door windows as well.
For the rear view, I reckon I can get one of those el cheapo rear view cameras.
