@
bigguwesty , there are supposed to be whales in Portland Bay at the moment. We grabbed some takeaway for tea and sat on the breakwater, but didn't see any. A southern right whale and her calf have been hanging around.
Cool place mate.
I picked up my van from there.
I hope it's not raining too much there atm.
I spent bit of time there few years back, the bastard seals were nowhere to be seen.
Seeing a whale? That would be amazing thing to watch.
Stick around bit longer. The whale family may show up.

You are not wrong, on so many levels. If it is sunny and 20 degrees in Hamilton, then it will be horizontal rain and 16 here. On the positive side, summer is usually a lot milder.
I used to go snorkelling for abalone or go surfing in the morning, then turn up at work for arvo shift.
My advice is: not to follow my advice.

Shock horror!
This is the first auto forum I've joined where there are others that live within 50 kms of me! I live 25 kms north, down the Portland - Hamilton road.
We went on that trip in the boat you can go on that goes out Seal Rocks, it was fantastic. We did see some seals. Must do that again.

Yep, I noticed that in your info under the pic of your GQ. I was over your way on Sunday enjoying myself at Masters.
The Mount seems to have a pretty healthy 4x4 scene from what I see every time I go over there.

I have some other commitments for the next couple of weeks, but there are a few places, like Swan Lake, Mt Richmond and right through to south of Casterton which would be ideal.

Made me happy.... over the last few days I have been wheeling and dealing with my GQ. I brought it a few weeks back it had 31x12.5 15" tyres. I hated them they where just over half worn. swapped them for a almost new set of 30x10.5 15" (equals to 285x 75 16") much better to drive. Then I have just swaped the 3" lift springs for a new set of 2" springs and thats a far better ride now I almost happy whith the gq.
