Yes I have the ryobi gennie , it's reasonably quiet , easy to start , apart from the hiccup of it doesn't like to run in +46 degree heat at max output (which I'm sure none of them don't) only other problem that had me stumped when it wouldn't start at 80 mile beach WA .
Oil was down a bit and slight angle the unit was on activated the fail safe switch for low oil level , so not much really to say don't buy one ours has been ok .

Don't do it, your camping neighbors will hate you.
Listening to a generator while camping really pisses me off.

While we camped at Dalhousie Springs during the forum Meet in the Middle, there was a bloke there who ran a generator until very late at night.
He was running one incandescent light bulb. Would you believe it? We live in a world of LED lighting and lithium batteries, it is very cheap and easy to get a rechargeable LED camp light that would probably last longer than a tank of fuel in his generator and put out more light.
    What was he thinking???

Have owned a Honda generatoŕ for 10 or more year and it has never been camping. They are so invasive with yhe noise that they make. Have felt like taking a hammer to a spark plug on more than one occasion.

Ordered & paid for. Should arrive in the mail in a few days time. One more thing ticked off the ’to buy’ list. Hoping to carry it around with us for a decade or more but never need to use it! Will get a plb too.

We took the gennie as back up when going round oz , used it twice first half of the trip and one of those times was loaned to an old guy and his wife who pulled up late and couldn't get his going .
Nothing worse than a generator going right next door unless your by yourself or well away from others , I put 600 watt of solar on van roof and had a 3000 watt inverter so used it bugger all .
Till we did the second half during the off season , temps mid 40's no other tourists and blew my inverter up .
So did use it then , but soon realised price of fuel for one night was same as off peak caravan park .

I have solar power and 3 batteries, but if on extended trips I also take my 1k Honda Generator. It's over 10 years old and hardly makes a sound, especially if I place it under my insulated "2 milk crate" noise filter. You can stand beside it and hold a normal conversation while hardly noticing it running. I only use it in an emergency, if the batteries are very low and theirs no solar ( sun ) available.

Having 600 watt solar for two batteries even when sky was cloudy I could get a float charge or better , only time battery's gave trouble was one batt shite itself , should have started with two new batts but cheaped out and only bought one new one .
