    2.8 Turbo Leak

I've recently bought a 97 2.8 GQ Patrol and found its leaking oil from what seems to be the turbo air intake pipe. The photo I've attached shows that the previous owner has just been lazy stuck some sealant in there and reattached the hose and left it. If I remove the pipe to inspect it is there much risk of it not resealing again? TURBO LEAK.jpg

Check the catch can, it may well require emptying.

This will more than likely be a stupid question but where abouts is that in relation to the turbo?

The stupid question thread is currently full, the mods should have it sorted by christmas 2021.

Other than that, on your rocker cover will be a short pipe with heavy rubber tubing on it.

That will/should run to the catch can, from the catch can to a point on the intake side of the turbo.

Depending on the brand/type of catch can emptying it shouldn't be difficult. Mine can simply unscrews from the head piece.

Couldn't see a catch can at all. the only pipe with rubber tubing on it goes onto what looks like a diaphragm on top of the rocker cover then a pipe runs into the air intake.

Ok, for the time being detatch the pipe from the intake, lengthen it and drop it into a chassis rail.

You can leave that as a final solution or (and you should as an environmentally responsible type) mount a catch can, empty same regularly.

There is a thread on provent catch cans somewhere, someone with better puter skills than I might patch in a link for you.

I can't do it for you I cut myself with the scissors and ate all the paste at kindy!

Edit :-Sorry bloke fingers and brain run at different speeds.

Block the intake entry you remove the tube from. Temporarily of course until you fit catch can.

Sit Rep! I have detached the hose from the intake and lengthened and blocked it off with a tap. Also cleaned the turbo and intake pipe so hopefully on the way home everything wont be covered in oil. I have sourced a new intake pipe from the airbox to the turbo and will install next week. hopefully this works! thanks for the help Touses!

Bloke either take the tap off or leave it open, bear in mind that is a breather for the engine, you block it off no good
