Hey all,
Those got a gu 4.5 petrol and what are your thoughts on them?
Only wanting fuel not dual fuel also.
My gu 3.0 diesel was written off this week so am looking for a replacement but think im heading for the petrol model.
Cheers

I have a Dual Fuel 4.5 GU with 330,000 K's on the Clock.
Very happy with it.
Lacked a bit of Power until I replaced the Head with enlarged Ports which allowed it to breathe a lot better.

You have the right approach avoiding dual-fuel IMO. Mine gets about 4km/litre on 91RON, maybe 10% better on 95/98RON on long trips, and 3km/litre on gas. Only 10c/litre price difference up here between gas/petrol so doesn't make sense running on gas.
30litre petrol sub tank, 75-80 usable litres in gas, means I have to feather it to get 400km range. LPG after hours in regional areas rare and expensive. Sits in driveway most of time. Might've clocked up 10k km in the 5 or so years I've owned it, it's that bad on fuel...
Planning to get gas stripped off it in near future.
My TB45 (265k) has much more grunt than my TD42T(165k) (kinda goes without saying really...) and you don't need an international runway length straight to overtake a road-train, but I think I still prefer the sluggish 4.2... even heavily loaded plus large trailer and hot summer air, it only creeps down to 4km/litre, 7km otherwise.

I use 16Litres per 100K's (6.2 K's per Litre) on Petrol and
20 Litres per 100K's(5 K's per Litre) on LPG. Towing My Van (Small) I use 25Litres per 100K's (4K's per Litre)
@threedogs No just just Factory

Each to their own.
Gas around here is .55 with petrol bring 1.20. I fill up on gas near work .45 cents.
Being a daily I'm doing around 20k a year, so it suits me.
I've got a direct injection system.

I ran my TB45E for 8 years before I converted to diesel last year. It was a beautifully smooth engine, much quieter than the TD42T I have in it now.
I had the Pacemaker extractors & 2.5" exhaust on it (tried to sell the as-new system for half price here but no takers) and even fitted an Xede piggyback to be able to tune it. It averaged 22/100 while I had it but it was auto trans. It pulled well once you got it over 3500 rpm..
You can't get them much over 100 rwKw without forced induction. I nearly did it to mine (there's a thread on this forum about it) but gave myself a reality check.
The TD42T engine I swapped to is easily more powerful than the TB45 was but I've done the 3" exhaust, Mamba turbo, 4" intake, pump timing, blah blah.

All depends on what your going to use it for eg daily or not?
Go a test drive one of each to see what suits your needs in traffic and what feels right for YOU.
