Accidentally put 20 litres of petrol in the GQ , lucky to make it home and had no idea what was going on till I opened the fuel cap and got that petrol smell .
Immediately filled tank with diesel and changed fuel filter twice , that was maybe 3-4 years ago .

Same same, accidentally topped up to full 1/2 a tank of petrol extra into the old mans 2.4D hilux when I was 18. Bunny hopped like a bastard within the first 5kms until realised my bad. Local old servo had just changed pump colours with the faze out of leaded, well that was my excuse :-) Probably should have read the English or at least had noticed the petrol stink, me fool :-(

Yuck, that sludge looks bad. What happened to the carby, just blocked jets, or did the rubber components swell up?
My advice is: not to follow my advice.

My excuse was it was the week before we were going round OZ for a year and I had shit loads to do , the servo I pulled into was in a nearby town but was unfamiliar to me , heaps of tradies in Utes lined up and filling up on two bowsers so I assumed ok diesel .
Must have all been bloody petrol Utes , bunny hop yeah and I reckon i was lucky the last bit of the trip home was downhill .

A mate in the fishing club has the diesel Isuzu motor in older Colorado dual cab and his missus took it to Gold Coast with the kids for a day and filled it up with petrol at Caboolture so at least half a 60 lt tank. Drove to the Coast (probably 150+ klm) with no apparent problems but it would not start again when it cooled down.
Put it on a truck back to Hervey Bay, drained tank and changed fuel filter and not a problem since.
If I had to replace my ute, I think I would buy a D Max
At the end of the day, all you have is yourself and all you need is your friends (and in our case our Patrol)

I saw an old Toyota Coaster bus on the side of the road, burnt out years ago. Apparently the driver filled the tank with petrol, instead of diesel and it caught on fire a few hundred metres up the road.

    What about 2 stroke engines?
I've been thinking that the typical two stroke fuel mixture ain't too far off diesel??!!!
RB30, some 2-3 inch lift auxiliary LPG tanks

ROFL... nah mate, not even close.
    Distillate is a cut fuel.
You would need something like 1:1 rather than 100:1 to be even in the ballpark I reckon

Closest relo to Diesel is Kerosene (old school Diesels will happily run on Kero or Aviation Jet Fuel).
We used to put any aircraft fuel drains straight into the power carts.
Going the other way, Allison TurboJet engines will run on Diesel if the hordes are coming over the hill and you are out of Avtur or JetA1

Dolphins are so smart that within a few weeks of captivity, they can train people to stand on the very edge of the pool and throw them fish.
