Was driving in a straight line and the mudflap 'flipped up' and wedged onto the tyre, doing about 90klm/hr and in the time it took from the start of the noise to releasing it, well it was brutal!

Be a racket happening for sure. Would have got you wondering.

Looking at it first, thought a bit unusual that the flap outside edge copping it as on lock would normally be the flap inside edge fowling with tyre.

I think the outer edge curled and hit the tyre, then the tread dragged it sideways, and yes it made a hell of a noise. We had been down the beach fishing for 3 days and just about to head onto the bitumen. Maybe the sand pushed it around, anyway its chewed off and bent well out of reverse shape now, so it wont happen again, at least not on that side!

The 3 days wetting a line down the beach sounds a good time. Do enjoy walking along looking for gutters and casting some ganged pillies out after salmon. Been a while...

Today, been cleaning out shed so to get to work and start cutting elongated hole in guard for fitting new 4" snorkel and airbox, relocate CC and battery isolator switch. Also need to remove dump pipe as the gasket from turbo to dump may have blown out. Can see exhaust soot under heat shield(yet to remove).

We were on 90 mile beach, about 1klm south of the McGorhan Beach camp area, maybe 10k from Seaspray. Had our own camp and a right out front a gutter about 100m long and maybe 10m wide. We caught a gummy, 2 banjo sharks, 2 big salmon, 2 trevally, 8 flathead and a taylor. Threw them all back except the gummy. Was stinking hot, got sunburnt, had a great time.

Sounds like you will have some interesting time ahead of you. Slow and steady wins the race I reckon. I have been slowly plugging away at mine for the last 5 weeks or so, and its now at the stage of still being operational, but also ready to begin the strip down for the s/c.

Nice one mate, I have camped at Mcgaurans a few times. We are going to a mates house in Loch Sport for the long weekend, so looking forward to that.
The Gwendolyn oven got a work out over the weekend, pimping out pizzas for a few hungry blokes. Very much enjoyed by all and evenly cooked pizzas from top to bottom!

Great to hear Chris. When I go back to that same campsite, we will come in from McG end as its a lot shorter and the tracks from the south are a tangle of dead ends and you end up driving a long way behind the dunes to find a camp - eventually. I still have 6 ovens left, so come on guys.... get with the strength, ha ha!!!!!
