Just some food for thought for the future..
Do you need to have a SIM card plan on that one?

Yes, I use the $15 for 365 days Aldi SIM. It only debits the SIM when you use the SMS option to get notifications.
You can text different commands to it like asking where it is and it replies with a Google Maps link with coordinates.
There’s both a phone app and a website connection so you see immediately where it is. You can see any route it has taken even months later.

AB, there is one of these trackers disguised as a 12v relay, very smart in my opinion. Just put the simcard, configure and put it along the several other relays you already have under the bonnet and that's all.

Not sure, but if it is under the bonnet it is likely not going to be able to access the satellites. Not much use if that is the case. Better off under the dash as long as that is not metal.

I have a tracker that works off the3g/4g network and has a relay output that can be used to drive a shut off valve on the fuel line. Works great - UNTIL IT DOESNT and actually energised the shut off valve way out the back of the high country where there is no mobile service - that was a messy fuel line re-jig on the side of the road to get going.

I contacted the supplier and thy had no idea how it could happen, however I suspect it received a 'signal to energise' from electronic interference within the car - my vehicle had a bit of stuff in it. Anyway, the shut off valve concept was great, and I tried it once whilst driving and it took about 1 minute for the engine to shut down due to fuel starvation. There is a warning that the cut off should not be energised at speeds over 40klm/hr from a safety perspective, but my perspective is if the vehicle has been stolen I am going to hit that isolation command when I feel like it. I was concerned about the duty rating of the shut off valve so went with a gear driven valve instead of a solenoid. They are on ebay from memory and the output from the device needs a reverse polarity relay to operate.

Also 3G coverage is starting to be phased out within the next 12 months, so its either 4G or 5 g I guess

I will never buy into 5G.

Also, do they really think they can maintain coverage/service with 4G over 3??
