So I know this might be a wast of time but since I already have the CAV similar can I run the 18 micron or higher if it is available on the CAV as a pre-filter and run the standard set up of ten micron then change the pre-filter twice as often as the main since it is pricy.

some companys may be useing different standards or parts thereof to specify ratings which dosent help the situation

Sure can. You can never have too much filtration. Whether its a waste of time. Is another question.
