First time I've been unable to call the electrickery supply company during an outage to report or find out why our magical outlets don't work. It has been the only real reason we've kept the landline as we used to have service during fires and such.
I got on their fb page and asked 'the' question, and they said ...
Hi Ten, we appreciate power outages are inconvenient, particularly in this heat. Today's outage was directed by the Australian Energy Market Operator and this event was as a result of a shortfall in power generation, and was not network related; unfortunately we are given little or no notice in these situations If you still do not have power, please call out 24x7 faults number on 132412.
I fell asleep on the couch for 10 mins, so it was lucky it happened during nap time.
There's a bit to it all , since Hazelwood closed which was twenty five percent of our generation which is a lot we have relied on wind and solar, both work ok under ideal conditions if it's windy and if it's sunny and not hot .
Unfortunately it's hot and not windy where it's needed so net result is blackouts , we now don't generate enough electricity to cover our needs and rely on Tasmania and NSW to get us through .
It's not going to get better it's going to get worse so buy a gennie and get some wiring done so you can replace the grid with off grid .
Coal fired works ninety eight to ninety nine percent of the time but wind and solar low thirty percent on a good day and that's why the blackout .
Enormous 48+ hours at work, what a day yesterday was. Probably the worst state, I've seen the system in, since the horrible pre - black saturday week.
I wonder where all greenies are now that the load power shedding has begun. Not a much has been said from their camp last few days.
