Did you track down the out of alignment culprit @MB? Talk to @mudski about green Fleetline 8 rib belts, tuff as and dimensionally stable also. I have shredded a few of the straight black normal duty beilts on mine as you know, but not a fleetline.
Can highly recommend.
Got some through Mudski. Just holding it in your hands you can feel the difference compares to genuine ones ( that I've been using ) ...
Very good bit kit.
Success, bonnet issue resolved. The pressed channel that runs from guard to guard and holds up a host of things, was deformed where the catch sat. I ended up cutting down a metal 'square' I had and then pulled out the protractor and compared the angle of the front pressing in other spots and it was out about 2 deg!!!! So I packed up the bottom of the new catch and the bonnet closes with a light push instead of the 200mm drop as before. I am guessing the extra scoop weight as @MB mentioned has pushed the bracket downwards - happy days
Also hooked into the passenger side BOSS rear spring support - still took me 2 hrs, and my spring seat must have some minor distortion as the new unit would not seat without taking a sander to a couple of bits to linish the edges off. One hell of a lot easier to install than the drivers side. I did destroy a set of heavy spring compressors, so borrowed the neighbors and destroyed them as well - those Dobinson 300kg coils are a bastard to compress.
So, under bonnet temps with a 10mm packer at the rear of the bonnet, removed the rubber seal and 2 x 100cfm bilge fans flowing over the exhaust manifolds - what was 90 deg+, now 67 degC, happy with that result. Fans run all the time the engine is running.
Next is the 5th overdrive gears on Jan 12, then sometime later this next year the Willwood Brake upgrade.
