    Td42 on a Y61 blowing black smoke..

    Hello folks..
    What does it mean blowing black smoke from exhaust. Specially when A/C is on? Took to a diesel repare shop had my feul pump checked as well as the injector nozzles clean. Still same problem.
    Now started to see slight smoke blowing from cylinder head when opening oil inlet cover. Thanks
    P.S. eats diesel like crazy.

    Needs a tune from someone that knows what they are doing. Black smoke is over fueling, someone has turned the fuel delivery screw up. Turn it back or down. If it's a turbo then you could turn up the boost will help a lot. Watch your exhaust temps too.
    Its a Nissan! =====> Its a Keeper!! ....... Got a TD42 in it BONUS!! ....... I'm a lucky bugger! I've got 2 of em!

    The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.

    Can't really tell as it is a replacement for a Zd30.. But went test on the ground this smoke was not there.. Want to make sure it's nothing much to worry about for now.

    I would be taking it to a different shop for another opinion. Get a compression test done on each cylinder while your at it. It could just be bad fuel too. Turbo failing. Do you know how much boost the turbo is making?

    Maybe not. Google the city. Its pretty big. Population of over 3.5mil. Anyway. Surely theres more than one place. Im not convinced the shop he took it too is correct.
    For the OP. Install a boost gauge and see what the boost is reading. It could just be a simple a too low boost pressure. More info would help. If possible...

    Haha yeah I just assumed it got a snail hanging of it. It’s it’s NA, not sure. Could be a block air filter...
