Been doing quite a bit more reading on all this.

I'm mostly concerned with trying to fix the loss of power you experience when driving around in traffic and in deserts when in warm/hot weather. Last year I went up to Alice Springs, drove around in days of 35+, don;t do that down where I live. The Patrol was a real hassle to drive, it lost so much power.

So I'll be putting a fan under my IC, from everything I've read makes quite an improvement in hot weather.

I'm still not sure which way to go with ICs? $1000+ or $300+? I can see pro's & con's for both.

I do want to get a larger scoop, ARE sell theirs for over $500 which seems like a crazy price to me. There's a guy on eBay selling for $180 but even that seems too much.

I'm using a $159 ebay intercooler and a $79 ebay scoop. The scoop matches the size of the IC as you can see in the pics.
IC is 450x300x76 core size with 2.5" in/out.

I use a Davies Craig 12" fan and made the IC cradle to the size of the fan - see pic.
Paint job on the scoop was 2 rattle cans.

And he does all his work in the same neat and precise manner. Positively bloody annoying. I am sooo jealous!

The cheapest scoop I can find is $180 for the 3L CRD. I'm wondering I could something made up out of some gal sheet but it'd probably end up looking crappy. I just can't justify $500+ for a fibreglass scoop.

Just read an old thread (2011) from another forum that you can purchase the ARE scoop without the metal deflector for less $$$$.
