Exclamation Need pictures and measurements for front fender brackets

    Hello everyone!

I noticed that my recently restored front fenders shake and flex too much for my liking when the TD42 is idling, specially after a cold start. Flexing to the point it will definitely crack the fender sheet on the places where I had to weld-fix them. It made me think that this vibration/flimsy is what made them crack in the first place.

So, looking at the parts diagram online, I noticed three brackets to support the most flimsy parts of the fender, to attach them to the front panel and wheel well or maybe even the chassis. None of those brackets are present in mine and I need to fabricate them here to properly support my fenders.

So, I was wondering if anyone could take pictures of the brackets on their Y60 Patrols showing the location where they are bolted and provide me a measurement of the distance between the two points of attachment? The reason I ask for the measurement is because if the bracket is shorter or longer it will widen or shorten the angle of the lower part of the fender, since it is very flimsy.

A picture is worth a 1000 words, so these are the brackets I am looking for. I really appreciate your help!

What’s your timeframe on needing them BZ Mate?
We may be able to post them over in a few weeks time, I’ll have a chat with @PeeBee

Here's a pic sorry she's a bit dirty lol. . Think there's only this one on the GQ, the parts diagram looks like an MQ guard although early GQ ute were a mixed bag of models for a bit. . Bracket is about 150mm long and should be a captive nut on the body end and nut and bolt on guard from what o can see / remember. .

Google Big O 4wd and suspension. They make the kit to stiffen the front guards. The first set they sent went missing, the second set arrived 4 days later however the guy is absolutely swamped with work, and it could be a bit frustrating getting them - never can tell. Is the problem with the inner guard cracking or the outer fender coming loose and shaking? The kit from Big O is a weld in kit for the inner guard - @Rossco, you have some photos on your build I recall?

Checked on their website and it seems to be broken. I would be interested in seeing what this stiffener kit is like, and understand if that is related to my issue and if I can reproduce their solution in case it is.

I´m not in a rush MB, the more pictures I can have a look, the better. I have just finished my 2-year bodywork/paintjob and am dreaming of bringing the Patrol back home but the missus last month decided on building a dance room for her and now my garage is full of sand, cement, dirt, you name it. No way to bring a recently painted car to "this enviroment"

Apologies yes their website is under development. @Rossco has a build thread with photos of the stiffener assy, I will see if I can send you the link but I am a bit hopeless with computers and phones!

Do a search under Rossco rejuvenation, page 7 has photos of the parts and them welded in place

Thanks PeeBee, I looked at it and despite very interesting its not that type of bracketry that will solve my issue. In my case its rather the outermost skin of the fender that is flimsy.

This is most likely it. This seems to be from the fender to the front panel right? Do you have something similar from the back of the fender towards the wheel well?
