Out of curiosity has anyone ever had to trim a radiator hose? I purchased the Mackay item from Repco which was way to long and required trimming and was stupidly tight. I've never trimmed one before but wasn't sure if this was more common with 4x4's to suite body lifts etc
Twin wire ones are usually better than the worm type ones, 'cos they usually come with a proper screw to tighten it up properly.
Trimming may be necessary to customize some of the aftermarket hoses.

Had a 750kVA diesel generator do this at work. Had been running for 4 hrs and noticed about a 4 inch round wet patch on the floor under the water pump while it was still running. When we shut it down all hell broke loose and it dumped most of the coolant. It was like someone had turned on a tap.

On the ball! I was at a loss so pulled the pump to check it. Probably an easy diagnosis if you had one of those extendable mirrors otherwise it was near impossible to see where the leak originated.

TB42 pump is fairly cheap, so if you suspect it's the pump, just replace it.
Looks like it took you a while(closer to three months) to pull the pump out.
So, you've been topping up the coolant all this time?

Flush the radiator and engine block properly and fill it with distilled water and proper coolant concentrate.
    It's money well spent.

:-) No it was replaced sometime ago. I already had a new one when I pulled the old one off.Just updating the thread for anyone who may come across it.
With that said, I now have a clutch issue, leaking brake calipers, complacently gone rear axle seal etc etc. So its back off the road!

Edit - just noticed your username. I think you know my other issues from the threads on patrol4x4

    What is the clutch issue?

BTW, extendable viewing mirrors are pretty cheap from spare part shops like Supercheap Auto.

Mate, just ask the question once, it is pointless to ask the same question multiple times in unrelated threads.
