Did not realize they were to close down. IMO best real for beach fishing in / thru gutters with ganged up 6/0 with whole pillies (light running rig). Must look after them a bit better. Mainly fly fish for trout now a days (few good days in quiet places).

Up the Snowy Mtns mate, a few around, they will improve in condition and activity with the coming on of more insect activity with the warmer whether. Can enjoy mid week and rather it that way.
My mate Phil who some of you know found this reel at our normal camp at Bearii.
Ive emailed the museum and found out its a 1958 model that cost 2 pound 10 and 6 back in the day.
the company started in1933 and close in 1987. Alvey with their bakelite side casters finished them off.
Its a 4.5" Steelite side caster. got some very old Mitchell reels both trout and surf and some very old lures.
Ill make up a board a display them.
As Phil says who knows how long it was stuck in the mud on the banks of the murray

04 ST 3lt auto, not enough Mods to keep me happy, but getting there
Steelite, a fine piece of engineering, noted the coil spring and actuated by the line run guide moment for locking the reel spool in position, and the drag tensioning star wheel (would presume) . Nice find and yes deserves a special place.

plus its left or right handed not bad , cause I think most ppl fish the wrong way ,
You should hold the rod with your dominant arm and wind with your weakest.
Being a right hander I wind with my left I used to wind with my right but found it easier winding left handed.
that should bring some comments lol
