Really can't recall what os was on it, I don't recall ever updating so assume its still what ever you installed on it. Just know I haven't used it close 2 a year and went 2 use it the other day and besides the power light coming on and a flicker of the screen it just stay black. But worked out if I pull the plug it shuts down

Strange, I just made a bootable usb and plugged it in and the power light on the usb didn't light up, tried sticking a cd in and it didn't take it either, its like there is no power at all even though I can here the hdd spin up and the power light on the front of the lappy and the light on the charger being on

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.

Can you connect to another screen by vga or hdmi.
If so I think one of the F keys allows to choose which screen to watch.

Thought about that but being apple it looks like some special cable that probably cost more than what the laptop is worth

Yes it will be a special cable. Take a photo of the port and the laptop. I will have the right cable. You might have to wait but I would be happy to send it up to you at some point.

It would just be MINI display port wouldn't it ? Do you have Jaycar near you ? They should have an adapter to any other screen you have. HDMI etc...
Example.
