Now this little fella ran onto to the road and stopped just in front of us. We stopped and grabbed the camera, (Totally wrong lense fitted). I nudged his tail a few times before he flared up, but wouldn't move.

He even tried to run at me. What a display! He really didn't like it when I picked him up and put him to one side!

It was a magnificent day trip to the Lower Glenelg National Park, Nelson and back home via Swan Lake and Telegraph Rd.

To top it off, we saw a pair of wedge tailed eagles hoeing into a dead wallaby. They were very nervous so we left them to it.

Not often folk get one of these 'birds' landing in their backyard! Apologies for the Toyota.

A double rotor push me pull you whirly bird. Very rare but very noisy.
They sometimes eat troops or vehicles and spit at rivals at 600 rounds per minute.

Some may not be aware that whilst Palm Cockatoos are the impressive punk rocker drummers of the Aussie Parrot family they are an increasing rarity & officially endangered with a declining population. They mate for life & only breed when conditions are right, which is less & less thanks to human activities. With this in mind we felt privileged to get a visit from two adults & their young offspring this morning. They had circled around for a bit of a 'reccy' yesterday (Boxing day) morning & we wondered at the time if they were checking out the fruit on the recently flowered Leichardt tree, but no, it was the Beach Almonds they were interested in.
