Dont even get me started on this one, The first Patrol I had was a '96 GQ EFI and was riddled with all sorts of engine problems, got it for $8K, must have spent $10K+ getting it roadworthy and useable, and got rid of it for next to nothing. I have a '98 GU Diesel now, much better condition, still have oil pressure issues with the RD28 engine, but apart from that all good - should have went Diesel from day 1.

Bought mine brand new in January this year, cost was 60k drive away for the legend pack, (Sat-Nav,Warn Winch,Towbar,Bullbar,Roofrack) I've spent a bit over 10k on it since. No doubt I'll spend a fair bit more as the years progress, but I look at it as my hobby. If I'm not off on a trip in it, I'm modding or doing something to the Patrol or I'm at work!

Wow - you guys spend a motza.
First GQ Auto tb42 cost $12k in 1998 (1990 model) with 125,000 on the clock. Sold it in 2013 with 320,000km for $7k. Spent $370 on it in 15 years (cracked fan and leaky fuel pump) excluding tyres, oil, filters & basic home maintenance.
2nd GQ Man TB42e bought 12 months ago for $3k with 240,000 on it. Cracked fan (again) was $45 and efi fuel pump (stuffed) $95. Welch plugs, heater hoses & tees apx$50.
The Mitsubishi Delica I owned from 2009 to 2016 cost $18k with 95,000km and I sold it for $6k with 155,000km and a years rego after spending over $7 grand on parts alone (I'm an ex-mechanic) Biggest heap of sh!t I've ever owned in my entire life.
"Can't" is a dirty 4 letter word.
Best way to deal with a "Can't" is to chop off the "t" and brew it in boiled water for a few minutes.
Sip on the "t", and consider what you've got left to work with
