Not sure how well the vacuum closing design of the valve is going to work if I accidentally stall the truck half way through a deep river or in the middle of a shocking bog hole though
Wouldn’t that be exactly the same as the bath tub nuffy test?

There is nothing wrong with what you have done and what you say is right. The valve is ineffective without the engine running. Just pointing out its operation.

Engine protection aside. Be careful when attempting to cross anything that is deeper than the bonnet

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.

Philstar you kindly educated me then that some huge amount (can’t remember %) of diesel delivery volume heads immediately back to the main tank of which could be the filters overall rated needs if that makes nuffy theory sense?
Certainly the main rear tank gauge filled up quickly climbing out but we were back up onto flat highway country by then to re-plumb the system back to standard and use the 1/3 full to get back home safely

@MB, yes my flowmeters show an over supply anywhere from 90% downwards returning tank to around 70% on my motor.

So....I’m back in love again with the new airbox after easy installation this afternoon, thanks heaps again Mat for the top product suggestion and apologies Gentlemen & ‘Black Mamba’ for my late night sook up earlier here
As mentioned, a piece of piss to install and plenty of wriggle room to choose left/right/forward and also backwards too if you move your GQ overflow bottle as they advertise:
(I settled on slightly backwards and slightly right twisted out off the guard a whisker so that my 10mm socket could whip the top off fast if ever needed)

Reduced it down for now from 4” to 3” via the first 90 degree bend only because I had all the 3” gear leftover from the previous setup trials.

Design angles out of the top of the airbox are absolutely perfect and it could easily clear a TD42t GQ alternator vacuum pump with 4” piping all the way through if needed folks

Next project is to finally install the little mini ARB pump to solely run lockers and the old winch freespool.
Can’t really be bothered mounting/wiring it safely inside the cab as have done on other trucks before so are playing around with shielding it from exhaust heat somewhere around here:

Do any of you Legends kindly know if there is any possible detrimental diesel engine affects of plumbing the little compressors clean air intake into the airbox top so it doesn’t get swamped out there too?

Awesome Markie, she's com'n along nicely. . . Wouldn't think their should be an issue running into airbox, surely there'l be enough air to go around doesn't take much to activate diffs and freespool. . .

Cheers Rossco Mate, have been thinking the same since posting as it should barely kick in unless I have an unfortunate sneaky line leak in the system somewhere as they can known do
There’s no possibility that something inside the compressor could shite itself and head on into the engine, I have no idea what’s inside these thingys although maybe a cheapo fuel filter in-line between could trap anything untoward heading back in?
Think I’m possibly overthinking it too much now too

    Another tyre rotation today.

Decided to go back through my service book to see how long I've had these.

Purchased on 05/07/16 with Speedo reading 285272 km.

Speedo is now at 366084 + 16558 when I had no Speedo, so

    366,084 + 16,558 = 382,642 - 285,272 =

A grand total of 97,370km in 4 years and 7 months. In that time I've rotated all 5 tyres between 7 - 10,000km. This was the 9th time. Unfortunately they have only seen the tracks about 1/2 a dozen times the rest has been on the block top.

Not know why, but 4 of them are like the first pic and the other is the 2nd pic, can't really see it in the pic, but the 2nd does have more meat and is less cambar..
