@Cuppa , Australia day celebrations have been going on a lot longer than than the nationally adopted date
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australia_Day
So by your reckoning, it's also not right for the 4th of July to be celebrated in America?

As far as the Yanks go, they can, & will, do whatever they like.
To have a national celebration of the proclamation of English sovereignty over the Eastern seaboard, perpetuating the myth of Terra Nullius, is in bad taste. To use this as our national Australia Day holiday intended for all Australians is a nonsense.
But the stupid thing is that no-one is dissenting about whether we should have an Australia day, for all the reasons that bring folk together & facilitate expression of pride in our country. Anyone would think that suggesting that the date be changed to one more appropriate was akin to banning Australia day altogether! Strewtharama!
Dang...I wasn’t going to comment further!

Enjoying the trips
Maybe we just change January to a 25 day month.
FFS history is just that and can not be changed, we have bugger all traditions in this country that are our own.
Today is one of them!
Edit, just to throw fuel on the fire those boats in 1788 had holds full of stolen generation too.
