Nah, I like the concept of 'Driving Miss Daisy ' you can drive and I can sit in the back looking like an old queer! I have not heard it driving past but admit most people hearing it coming up behind them turn their heads. I had a young buck in a 79 Cruiser pull up beside me on the way home, lights green, off he roared in a cloud of smoke, bye bye, mine didn't stand a chance with the gearing and short redline, but at 75 and above, he would be toast. Anyway, enough of the dreaming, I have to settle down for nigh nighs now.

Thanks Mark, it was a mission. I took it down for a frontend alignment and heard it coming down the street for the first time ex the test drive - whine with a burble is perhaps the sound, the whine a little louder than I would like but it is quite unique. Enginering booked for March 18 for the chop and who knows whatever they find?

I am a bit more relaxed now compared to last night when it all went tits up. I have a solution as long as the threads in the block are not damaged - they should be ok. Its then a dash to Dandenong to pick up a set of the right ones. I tellya, its a twitchy monster to drive, any tap of the accelerator in 3rd and above and the arse wants to meet the frontend. 1st and 2nd are just too short for any real use on the road. S/c whine is taking a bit to get used to though. Zero road noise as expected with all that insulation.

The entire inside of the car has a layer of Jing Ping acoustic vinyl insulation, followed by a 10mm layer of acoustic foam on the floor, then the factory carpet. The roof has a layer of Jing Ping and then a 12mm acoustic and thermal foam followed by a frontrunner style automotive carpet, multi directional stretch. All the doors have two layers of Jing Ping. The rear wall is Jing ping then a carpet covered plywood facia board. the engine bay has the firewall in a dimple plate aluminum material for thermal and this extends down the transmission tunnel a meter or so.
I wasnt able to reinstall the head liner, it had a couple of stretch points and a tear or so, and it would not go over the jing ping and foam, so I ditched it for the carpet.

You had that engine in there before the chop or was it all part of the "let's change it all while its stripped down" fun?

I am in the process of doing that jing ping stuff to mine. I hope it corresponds to the expectations!

Engine was in it before the chop. A trick for the jing ping is to buy the little roller they sell, and you can them get the material stuck down with force and follow the profile of the floor and corners.
