Had to cut our Desert Adventure short unfortunately, just pulled up safely at home. Control rings have finally given up, cannot complain, was a truly awesome 3 days / 2 nights covering some good miles with the Littlen and I knew this day for the 27 year old TD42 was coming

Day 1 - Murray Sunset National Park from the Yarra Valley…….We found the start of the old Dingo Fence finally:

Ventured West then South down the Upper Border Track to camp at Border Camping Area, great spot, highly recommended:

Day 2 - Completed the Upper Border Track, sort of, we got a little lost and didn’t want to pass through Private Farmlands so made a SA highway dash down to Pinaroo for diesel top up before spending the afternoon on the Fun part of Border Track:

Camped at a ripper spot this night, Red Bluff, scored some free firewood awaiting on arrival too:

Day 3 - Uncovered the excessive blowby on the poor old motor so we made an Easterly dash across the base of Big Desert, was very picturesque and a shame we couldn’t head back up into the Mallee for another night/day:

A decent camp found down at Broken Bucket, plenty of space for larger convoys:

Border track and red bluff - how good! Some amazing views out there that pics can't do justice. Nice one mate, shame you had to cut it short.

What is the charge? Eating a meal? A succulent Chinese meal??

Definitely got the Desert bug back in the system again Plassy Mate Unfortunately didn’t take too many piccies but it’s honestly about the Open Spaces ‘Vibe’ agreed that they never capture anyway.
Red Bluff Camp is Fantastic, if you late afternoon nod off around your campfire and startle you’d swear you’re in the Red Northern Territory except your back is freezing instead of sweating

Looks like a great trip mate. Do a Trip thread for this one mate, would be good to revisit this in the future.

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.

I went for the 100a/hr units after contacting Itech. I want to have the capacity to use my 24v mig welder and the 100a/hr units can withstand 175amps of drawdown, which is ample for the welder. I liked that they could be configured as 4 x parallel and 4 x serial, so this works well for my coffee machine and the welder.
Nice one Phil, I didn't know you had the 24v MIG. We had one when we did the Madigan and had to use ot to fix q Hilux in No Man's Land. No chance we'd have got it home without it. Great bit of kit. I keep my eye out hoping to stumble on one for sale one day.
