Yeah i know arrrgh. Hopfully it's not too bad want to do as much stuff as i can prep wise so it's just ready to go. I've gained a greater appreciation for body work, there is a fair bit of time involved in everything, can be quite theraputic tho. . .

Rossco, are these braces installed to correct a weakness in the front guards or more a belts and braces approach since you had the guards off? If its a weakness, where does the vehicle crack and for what reason - is it hard driving or twisting or currugations etc?

Hey Phil, their made to correct a couple of weak spots really. Apparently they can come apart from the spot welds between the bottom of the A pillar and the front guard where they join. The long ones are to help with where they crack from the weight of the batteries, especially the aux side. Yeah my panel beater mate said GQs are weak as piss in that area. I think a combination of corrugations, hard hits and maybe older bodies & corrosion takes its toll. The guy that developed them is in SA (Pinaroo) and does a fair bit of outback touring so i guess corrugations would be a big one, they certainly seem to destroy a lot of things. . .

My passenger side inner guard is absolutely rooted. Would love to throw this kit on it one day and repair it.

Could have almost done it when you did your lights, only a few more bolts to get the guards off. Probly front door hinges is something to think about too once you've gone that far. . . Luckily mine are pretty new replaced them after the Simpson, they were roooted! . . . Yeah your guard is getting pretty crazy

Yeah I've done the door hinges recently.
Yeah that's the outer guard but the inner guard is worse.

Mines getting bad where I cut the hole for the snorkel on the inner guard. Aux battery weight, bumps, etc even though it's braced doesn't matter.

    A good investment Rossco.

I might have a close look at this area on the weekend. Does the guard need to be off and where might I be looking specifically for cracks?

Have a look around the hole cut for a snorkel Phil, that's where they crack.
