Happy that I started and got a couple good welds down. Pissed that the others look like a dog's breakfast. So out canes the grinder to clean then up.

Are you using gasless wire in a mig or stick welding?

A lot of gasless needs the polarity to be reversed. So the electrode into the negative and the earth clamp into the positive. This will help to settle it down and make it run smoother for you. But it is always best to check the manufacturers instructions as the electrode polarity will be in them.

Yeah I know. It's set up for gasless. I can reverse it and run a gas bottle, but if I can weld as good as some of what did today consistently I'll be happy

I never had much luck with gasless. Always sketchy. I bought a TIG and never looked back.
My advice is: not to follow my advice.

Guy at work has the same welder and has no issues using it as a gasless. I'll try a new tip and see how it goes. Besides the last roll of wire I brought was a 15kg roll of gasless wire, if it's still giving me issues I'll change to gas when I need more wire..

I really wonder what the desired effect is of these crap posts and what the sender thinks they achieve? Bloody rubbish.
