    DIY exhaust thoughts and help.

I'm thinking of doing myself up a turbo kit in the next few months and the kit I'm looking at comes with everything up to the dump pipe. Was initially going to drive it down to the local exhaust shop and get one made up for which I was quoted ~900 bucks. I have now thought I may give it a crack myself. I have a mig and have patched up some exhausts on my old cars but never made one. Anyone got any advice on what bends I would be looking for? Or any stories of having done one yourself? Its a high mount turbo and would want 3inch straight through.

By the time you buy mandrel bends, lengths of pipe, flexi joint, flanges gaskets and (possibly) a fabricated donut for the really tight bends or odd angles, you're already hundreds of dollars in. That's before you climb in and out from under the car 1 million times for mock up, fitment, re-fitting, re-cutting. You might find that $900 migh be reasonable.

Plenty of exhaust kits/prefab out there that would come in cheaper than that. If it were me, I'd buy a kit.. Then just have the piece between your turbo kit and exhaust you may need to fab.

Not sure of this will fit a GQ or whatever engine you have, but I have a 3in dump pipe I'm selling.
    It's from a GU TD42.

Yep. I paid around $700 for a 3inch Redback system. No brainer. I get plenty of people coming into my work buying bends, straight sections, clamps etc etc to do the same thing. Certainly not worth your time. Trust me.
