Yea I'll be blocking exhaust manifold side now.
Just have to supply the blank..

Hate the unprepared 4WD. Coming out of Burgoynes track today, which is quite cut up, 500mm steps in places, sharp projections everywhere, but straight forward for a driver with some experience, so you can imagine what was going on in my head when the I had to reverse backwards up a bloody great hill because some bozo came charging up it. Anyway got to the top with him following me - up the steppy rutty crap - not fun nor easy on the vehicle. So I pull off the track to let him pass and he tells me his story. His mate, sitting in the passenger seat blew an alternator on green Hills track - one of the other feeds into Burgoynes. They were heading in to replace it - happened 3 days ago, so all good, he was in a pathfinderr with half bald all terrains. Asked about the track - he had not done it before but the route was 'quicker' on the map???? he thought.
Right, so have you any recovery gear - NOPE, travelling with someone else - YEP, and then the call comes over the radio that his mate is stuck, basically on the second little pimple hill, and another 20klm of difficult driving to get to the river, then get up Green Hills to fix the car - by the way its 2pm by now. So they walk down the hill and I yelled out - ' if he can't make it past the spot he is on, he won't make it full stop'. Anyway they heed the advice and the driver of the pathfinder returns and declares the track is now open, they have cleared the stranded vehicle and he has graciously agreed to move his vehicle so we can pass.
Here is the pisser - the stranded vehicle was a Subaru wagon complete with road tyres, but it did have a 4" snorkle - The front spoiler was in pieces and it was going nowhere. For me it was simple case of not doing your homework as this track is not for toys. Added to that, right where the track starts at the bitumen, the DSE guys have placed signage saying the track is very rough, proceed at your own risk - wouldn't the penny have dropped that this track, that they had never driven on, arriving late in the day etc etc was not a good choice. For the record they only had to drive thru Licola and could have entered Green Hills from the top.
THEN, when we did get past these clowns, found out someone had rolled a Ford territory and camper trailer on the Burgoynes track coming in from the back approach - first off - not Ford territory territory, second, if you were stupid enough to take a camper trailer into Burgoynes the only safer way is via Green Hill - but there was a broken down vehicle blocking the track!! Unsure of the drivers/passengers condition, we didn't see the territory but heard the camper was hanging off the side of the hill, so would have been terrifying for sure.
