    Hey Rock.
When I had my 3l crd I had unichip fitted and tuned at jpc. Transformed the car. Got rid of limp mode errors etc... Was well worth it. They also got rid of needle and Dawes and fitted up a wastegate and tuned to that too.
Sold the car 2 years ago and still know the guy who owns it . Never had a single issue yet. Runs great.

Thanks Hodge. That sounds very interesting. Could you adjust the boost easily with that set up?

They mentioned that they had used the unichip on remapped cars to adjust the fuel map down. Also they have multiple maps loaded so you can change them to suite the conditions. Also being able to tune on the dyno is a great benefit. The trouble with remaps on the Patrol is that you can’t program on the fly while on the dyno. It’s a bit of a guessing game.

Wish I had originally gone down the unichip route. I didn’t know too much about them at the time and thought they were just another chip that plugs in after the ecu and increases fuel pressure.

I don't think boost was adjustable with the setup I had. Unless wastegate was adjustable in some way. But to me it was a set and forget thing. I never touched it. They tuned everything to 19PSI and that was it. Car behaved the best at that.

Prior to unichip, When my car originally went in, it had a needle and dawes setup. They then reverted that to factory setup and tuned unichip to that. Cant remember why.... Car came out driving good with better power etc... But the boost was back to the old shit factory setup. It was just yoyoing all over the place. I didnt like it, so back in it went , and they then fitted a wastegate re-tuned to that and after that the car was the best ive ever had it.

Also when you said "they have multiple maps loaded so you can change them to suite the conditions".
Do you mean the chip? If so it must be something new as mine was not user adjustable. It was a blank chip fully tuned to my car from scratch and locked away.

Getting new hi flow injectors. Somehow my 35thou old ones were destroyed. Every single one of them were fubar. Even though I was still making 160rwkw, I knew something wasn't right, and for quite a while too. It would run out of puff earlier than I though t it should, quite smokey down low in the revs and hard on the gas. So Im hoping the feelings I had will be a distant memory when I pick it up. Was supposed to be yesterday, but, they spotted a small leak on the water rail for the cylinder head, so they were going to attend to this aswell so I said I will just pickup today.
Theres a mob on the eastern end of Settlement Rd also in Thomastown whom I will not name, do not use this guy. Tis all I will say.

Thanks Mudski. I googled the place and will keep clear off them. Hope the injectors will work out this time.

Hodge, the new unichip is called th Q4. Not sure if it will work with a Patrol. It certainly looks the goods though. You can change the maps on the fly with a control module inside the cab. Mild to wild. You don’t need to have an aggressive tune al the time, only 2hen needed.

Dropped past JPC yesterday. They weren’t really open but a couple of the guys where there working on their own 4 wheel drives. Spoke to them about the problem and they told me that they had attempted to fix a remap previously with a unichip but it was not very successful. Also mentioned it could be injectors are not squirting correctly.

Back to square one. Get remap undone if possible or look st getting injectors tested/replaced. Both bloody expensive and not sure which one it is.
