GQ belly tank rubs on tailshaft

I installed a 78Ltr belly tank out of a TB42 that was gifted to my by my nephew. The installation was difficult to say the least - bum in a bucket fitment. What I noticed last night after crawling under the vehicle were 3 witness marks on the ear driveshaft where it has been rubbing on the tank. The worst is right on a tank weld and has actually worn the protruding weld down about 1mm. I am not concerned from a structural perspective, however am thinking this is something to do with the wheel articulation offraod? Do others, @AB, @Rossco, have similar marks on the tailshaft? What is also weird is that I have approx 10mm clearance from tank body to the tailshaft and the rub marks are in spots, like the tailshaft is bending or whipping locally - I can't see this happening but if the tank is 1m long, measured from the front, wear marks are at 200mm, 350mm and 750mm. Intersted to hear what you find or have found.

No, nothing changed in that area. It looks like it has 8-10mm of clearance down its length, even where it has been rubbing, and there certainly is no rubbing noise.

They can get close (too close) if there's a lift without adjustable panhards. You running adjustables, might be able to get enough clearance that way if not time to upgrade maybe. .

Just checked mine, has a good 25mm clearance along the whole thing. Maybe Brown Davis ones are tighter overall still should miss it tho. Probably is under articulation or power making it flex, worth checking all bushes just in case something is moving more than it should. .

OK, reckon I am running a 2-3" lift via the BOSS airbags at absolute max - probably less - just so it sits level - reckon this would affect it? I am not running adjustable panhards

Do a measure or a bit of an eyeball how much each side is to the guard. I reckon it should fix the problem. Good upgrade anyway factory ones are pretty weak.

Sorry, you have lost me. What am I measuring inside the guard for - the interference is between the tailshaft and the tank. I pushed around on all the locator bars and arms and everything appears good. I am thinking a dome headed belt rod to locally push the tank inwards for clearance is about the go. These Brown Davis Tanks are very tight fitment for sure.

Check how the diff is located in relation to the chassis cross ways. As car goes up panhard rod pulls axle to the right. Should be able to see if it's off centre due to lift which would be towards the tank.
