Strange rattle from front end. zd30

    Hey guys,

Got a weird rattle coming from my front end, it seems to happen when decelerating either due too the harmonics of muddies or the motor not sure. its worse while driving but i can get it to do it while stationary by loading up the power steering (dry steering) or giving the accelerator a quick poke. It is definitely to do with vibration.

The sound resembles the sound you would expect when you tap a spanner against the hollow end of a shock, like a 'tinging' noise. At first i thought it was a shock vibrating.

I hope I am making sense and hoping someone can suggest anything else that can make a similar tinny type of sound.

I will try to film it later and post video.

sounds like the old days when the fan used to hit the radiator. can you see any marks from where something is rubbing on something else?

get some one to give it a rev while you have your head underneath, you may be able to locate the area where the sound is coming from.

I used to get weird sounds from my roller fairlead, it's not that is it. Loose number plate? loose antenna, spotties etc?

Long shot but... Alternator Sprag Clutch ?
Dolphins are so smart that within a few weeks of captivity, they can train people to stand on the very edge of the pool and throw them fish.

Something between chassis and body is close to touching and when things flex and move relative to each other like decel, turning, motor revving, they actually come in contact with each other?
I was chasing a horrible bang on rh corners only to find a fkn stone between a chassis mounted rock slider and the body.
    Cheers, Mick

    Thanks guys, found the issue.

My redundant EGR pipe had separated from the flange at the exhaust end.

    Cheers all for the suggestions
