Please DO warn little loved ones that the Vampires are still active 24/7 within Dalhousie’s cool Masonary Dunny/Shower block….environment

Just some little bits of info that I hope may be useful (just came back from double crossing)
    - Flies - there are a lot and repellants only seem to work for about 30 minutes at best
    - Few mozzies at Delhousie but not near as bad as some led us to expect
    - Madigan is badly chopped up, and not just the dunes. The dunes are so bad that you cannot get up much momentum, just violent lurching from side to side. Need low pressures and just walk up them.
    - Make sure everything is well packed so things will not get damaged or broken
    - If your seat belt rubs your shoulder or neck consider one of those lambswool socks for some protection
    - A couple of dunes are REAL soft
    - Sand flag masts tend to unscrew at the joins. A wrap of tape around the joint works.
    - Keep traction control OFF - forgot a couple of times and needed to have another go.
    - No matter what path you chose on a corrugated road, another path will always look better.

I used 106 litres Birdsville to Mt Dare 596k (French Line & Rig Rd), 136 litres Finke to Birdsville 821k (Grandpa spec GU wagon).

@MB i might grab one of those bags if you still have a spate mate, my Redback has some splits in it, trying to get my shit together for 2 spare tyres off the Raslarr rear bar in time. My List is Very Very Very Very Long.

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.

We set off fairly early to avoid the worst of the flies and kept going until beer-o'clock for the same reason. They are only around during daylight. Daytime stops we just wore fly veils. Just remember to NOT spit while wearing your veil, although you can suck on a tinnie with a little care.
And the mozzies were definitely not a problem - just a few at Delhousie and they will get fewer as the temps drop further.
Regardless, you will definitely enjoy your trip.
Now comes the arduous task of trying to get rid of the dust out of the vehicle - it's everywhere!!

On our Simpson trip last year we also found the mozzies not so bad at Dalhousie but the time before they were the worst I had seen. Fly nets are a must, take spares incase you misplace them.
