Another bee sting - cant get horn to work in GQ Patrol
Loom has been out, finishing up the final run of hook ups before VASS engineering. I cannot get the horn to work, have had the steering bits off, all look fine, it activates by completing the earth circuit, but wont work by pushing the horn pad in the steering wheel, but will squeek like a mouse if direct powered. Almost like its starving of power - any ideas - 3 bloody wires, Killing me. I have tried different horns as well, same root cause.
I have the horn body earthed and the power goes thru the horn to earth. All connections by the wiring diagram, have swapped the relay, nuffink!!!!

I just found the the circuit in the factory workshop page EL 64. I never knew the was a horn relay in the circuit. Maybe a bad connection there. Page EL80 says the relay is located at 134M connector along the drivers side guard if it is actually fitted.

Have you measured the voltage when the horn is pressed?

Mark, good question as I see the power comes off a constant power source, so should be 12V, however its dead, perhaps indicating there is an issue back in the loom. If I jumper the power directly off the battery into this power wire, I get a pissweak response at the horn, and if I leave the jumper on with constant power, the response is zero pushing the steering wheel pad. The fuses are all fine.. Almost looks like another cable connection may be missing or a plug not connected, however the wires all disappear into a taped up loom, so unsure thats a line of enquiry.
I will see if I can measure the transmitted volts when doing the battery jumper next time I am at the shed. Frustrating.

I think I will just run an independent circuit and piff the original, doing my head in.

OK, think I have this sorted now, just have to drop the loom into the truck to confirm, but it works on the bench
